Here is the direct link to the 2005 Nats schedule on Buena Park Raceway's web site:

    2005 USRA Wing Nats Schedule

The General Meeting date & time is still listed as "To Be Announced".

So - any USRA official types have a date set yet???

Traveling racers need to know - so they can plan their trips. It is usually mid-week... as in Wed night, so that more of the racers with classes in the early part and Pro racers in the fast classes can overlap and all attend eaisily.

I'll move this thread to the USRA forum with a redirect - so hopefully the people who can set the date will see it.

Boyt and myself discussed this last night. The meeting will be Wednesday August 17. It will be early, just after tech closes for the Geezer race.

Is there any procedure for someone coming to the Nats but needing to leave before the general meeting to be able to vote on issues raised at the meeting, especially the site for next years Nats? Such as leaving a Proxy with someone who will be able to stay? Will there be an online/mail vote later in the year as required by last years vote. If so what other types of issues will be considered at the meeting?

I would suggest that each USRA member in attendance be allowed one vote for next years nats. This can happen anytime during the week, we just need to keep a record of it and count the votes toward the end of the week. I will be there all week so if the USRA needs help let me know. I see of no other fair way, this allows everybody to vote.

    Cool

Well.....Get a lock-box with a opening/slot on the top and when everyone signs up for their membership, they get a ballot with the possible Nats sites. The racer then checks where they would wat to see the Nats at the following year and then puts the ballot in the box. Before the Group 7 race on Sunday starts, the box can be opened and the ballots counted. The membership number should be included on the ballot as a quick check against the membership list to make sure there are no duplicate ballots. No membership number, the ballot DOES not count. After all ballots are tallied, then the 2006 Nats race will be awarded.

The lock box should have two locks, with two keys....one going to the Prez and the other to ??????? ( maybe Chris R and Boyt ) Both have to be there to open the box at any time and SHOULD NOT be opened at anytime before the final talley on Sunday.

The box should be kept somewhere safe in the raceway ( maybe with Chris from Buena Park behind the counter ) where no one can tamper with it.

The only thing not fair about doing it this way, is that not all of the racers will hear the Site Proposals from the Raceway Owners bidding.

Just my 2 cents worth...one more time.

    Good suggestion Ron...

It would be nice to close the voting by the end of the meeting however, and count the votes then... however it would not give those arriving after the meeting for faster classes to vote then.

I agree that not hearing the presentation is a down-side of missing the meeting - however, there are a couple ways to help those who miss the meeting.

1 - Make several copies available of a very nice printed proposal, so that attendees can read it throughout the week, whether at the meeting or not (this should always be the case).

2 - Post the Nats proposal info online - on a web page with a link here - or simply on a post here in the USRA Forum. Heck - I'll even make any proposals (any and all posted and submitted - no favorites) a sticky so they stay up on top.

If anyone wants their proposal converted to HTML and hosted on OWH - I'd be glad to do that as well - FREE if it doesn't involve laying it all out (If I have to do the typing or layout work for you, I might want something to cover my time).

Now someone official just need to chime in if the vote box and/or proxy voting by current USRA members (with member #) to help more members get a vote will be okie dokie, or if other problems are forseen....

then if ok - someone need to bring a bank box and a couple locks.

What's the word - Chris, Boyt, Dave???

BTW - Ron.... if that was your 2 cents worth - and if charged accordingly by number of posts.... then at 760 posts you're up to $15.20 now.

(If Mark G. or PdL were on that system - I'd be rich - LOL)

    I would say

It should either be done by online vote, as voted in. Or as last discribed per the rule book. Anything else has to be submitted ,voted on and approved..........

    I agree...

...voting should be done online so EVERYONE gets to vote.

If I understand this correctly, is the only voting that happens only at the Nats? What if a guy (like me) who cannot go to the Nats an the left coast this year, wants to vote on next year's location.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that ain't fair?!

If you are computer Savey enough you can vote multiple times, I say either show your supportby showing up at the NATS or you don't get a vote...

There are ways of setting up a site to eliminate multiple voting. I've seen it on other forums when a topic was set up as a poll - you only got one "vote" per user. I am sure something similar could be set up.

Anyway, I'd love to show my my support and go out west for the Nats, but finances and family commitments won't allow it this year. What you say makes sense, like supporting your local raceway, but for some of us that really can't make the trip, I feel they are entitled to a vote as well.

I dunno, I'm new to this new era of slotty cars...

    Hey Hurricane,
That the way it works in NY? Multiple times and I thought that was just in Chicago. Must be how Hillary got elected.
