Thumbs up Almost Ready for the Shoot Out

Well it seems like yesterday when I was at the Worlds in Buena Park. Do you know why? Because every spare minute I have had after work and on the weekends I have been making Thunder Rubber Racing Tires for Maryland. I have also been retreading many other teams Rims for this event. Sorry to all you guys who have to grind and trim this batch but this will be the last time for that. Tony Griffin (MR TNT Racing Tire) has been very helpful in sharing with me the design of his tire grinder and much more. I will build one after the Shoot Out is over.

We are hoping to set new world records on the Thunder Rubber tires. It will depend on many factors out of our control but I promise we will do whatever it takes to make it happen

THANKS for all the help TONY / TNT

Good news from the shootout. No world records were set for lap totals with speed rubber. Wonder, Thunder and Jet tires all were used during the weekend. The speed benefits of the speed rubber in the first 5 laps was definatly off set by not slowing down at all with wonder type rubber and having drop off with speed rubber and also some deterioration in handling.

I used thunder rubber all weekend and finished 2 sections behind Vince Brown in pro 15a with 587 breaking the old world record. these tires didnt slow at all and kept the car extremely consistent in the race. Great job with these tires.

    Tire Grinding

Are you Sick and Tired of grinding huge donuts of Thunder Rubber? I know I am. My Hudy is still warm from last weekend and I cant imagine grinding this stuff without a diamond coated drum. I sure am glad Mimi had an air compresor at the Track to clean out my tire machine (about 10 times).

Well today I ordered the components for the commercial tire grinder and meet with a fabricator who will build it for me. I just need to order the grinding stone and have it shaped. I have a new shop vac and that should be all I need to get the machine working.

The next time you see Thunder Rubber tires they will be at .790 with a square edge profile. You will only have to give them a final tweek in your Hudy to your desired size and radious angle.

Thumbs up Who Racing Hubs ????

Thats right I just got an e-mail from Mike Aquirre of Who Racing that 500 pair
of light weight racing hubs will be shipped to me mid July. This will be our introduction of Thunder Rubber on the Who Hub. Theses hubs are being made out of a stronger and lighter material than previously used in slotcar racing. Mike has designed us a real winner and I am very excited to offer them to you.

Please keep in mind that there will be less than 500 pair ready for this event. Don't wait too long before you order them because they will be gone!!!!!!!!!!
I will also have a harder/treated rubber ready for this race. Call Doug for any info about Thunder on the Who Racing Hub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks Skinner

Thumbs up One Size Fits All

The Who Racing Hub will be one size for the Maryland Nationals

    G Hub

Mike will have to fill us in on the exact size but my guess is somewhere between .600 & .620.

    Thanks Skinner

    Who Racing Hubs

I just got back from Montana and recieved good news from Mike Aquirre that the Who Racing Hubs will be shipped out to me today. Thats the good news, the bad news is that only 500 pair will be available for this years Nat's. The THUNDER RUBBER will be real sweet on these Who Racing Hubs and for those of you that want it we have treated Thunder Rubber. This tire is equal too or better than the old XX in hardness, speed and reliability.

P.S. When I get the Who Racing Hubs I will post some photos.
