I have received many e-mails asking why I haven't been on in such a long time, by the members here as well Slot blog. Over the past year Joe's health has declined to the point, he is no longer able to get out of bed. Much of his summer and fall has been spent in and out of the hospitals and it is taking a toll on him, as well as mom and I. Because of these issues, our bills have gotten out of control and sleeping at night has become rare at best.

Because of everything going on, Joe has has asked me to sell his race track . He doesn't see himself being able to use it anytime in the near future, and feels it's a shame to have such a beautiful track just sitting collecting dust. He has asked that we use the money to help towards our bills. I truly hope that all the wonderful people who originally played a roll in providing and donating this track understand that this is something we have to do because of personal issues. Jennie and I are trying the best we can, but things have changed drastically over resent months.

I'll need to talk with a few people to figure out what to do and how to go about it, and I'll keep everyone posted.

    Hi Vic,

I have missed seeing you post on OWH lately... but I guess I had just figured you may be posting over on slotblog.

That is very sad news, and the kind of news that we have all been dreading and hoping not to hear. I know that Joe's condition has had it's ups and downs over the past few years... but I also know that it has been a day to day struggle for him and the family.

It is also sad to think of having to sell the track... because I know that it had served as an inspiration for Joe's recovery in so many ways. I think it gave him hope, as well as something to share with you, and to help connect with the hobby that you both enjoyed together.

My only fear is if the loss of the track will have any negative impact on Joe. I hope that it would not reduce his motivation to recover, or somehow increase the boredom that he must endure.

But life has much higher priorities then toy cars, and we all do what we need to do to survive.

As far as the feelings of those who contributed towards the track, controller, and other stuff to make Joe's track a reality... I can not imagine anyone having any feelings other then wishing you all the best in whatever you need to do.

Although I'm sure all of us would feel it is a shame if you need to sell the track to help towards medical bills - I am also sure that everyone would understand and be supportive of whatever you decide to do.

Please tell Joe I send my best wishes, and please keep us up to date whenever you can.

was wondering just yesterday about you and the family.

You do all that can be with what you have. I wouldn't worry about the reasoning for selling the track. Everything you have done has been in his best interest.

    Best wishes to your family,

    VICK,
I am very sorry to hear about Joe. He has put up a very valient fight and had a good life with family and friends both here on OWH and there. I do wish him the best and to keep that smile going.

    IDEA....
Have a Raffle. $2.00 a ticket. There would be a bunch of us that would buy some/a bunch of tickets but couldn't buy/afford the track and you should be able to really help in the bill department better than trying to sell the track outright.
I'll start! Put me down for $20.00 to start with and maybe I can add more latter.

After careful consideration Joe has decided to sell the track. It was suggested that we list it on ebay in an effort to reach more people, but I thought it only fair to list it here first? Everyone here knows the track and how it came to be. It saddens me to see it have to go, but this is something we just have to do. We are open to fair offers at this point.

As most of you know, the track is basically new and has only had a few laps run on it. Comes with everything, Power supply, TrackMate system, Computer and extra overhead monitor . Footprint is about 20x11 at it's widest point. Has 4 and a half inch lane spacing so you can run anything you wish on it. This track is built to last forever, very smooth and fast !!

I'm going to wait a week or so before listing it on ebay , hoping someone here may be interested.
PM me with any questions you may have. I'll also list it in the Tracks for sale section here.

    Vic,

The knot of empathy that formed in my gut has risen to my throat… and, I’m sure like everyone else here, the words I want to express will fall short of the depth of feelings… So, if you will forgive this overly simple conveyance…

Joe, your wife and you remain in my thoughts and heart.

    Rick ;-)

    Thank you Rick,
We remain hopeful that Joe will make a full recovery. These set backs are unfortunately part of being a quad.
Joe still has a good outlook, as do we. Over the last few days we have received quite a few PMs and it means a lot to all of us.
Having you all as friends has been a blessing, as we feel like we're not going through this alone.

I'm so proud to have you all as friends !!!

    Vic,

Mary Ann and I will keep you in our prayers. Do what you need to do to take care of your family. Joe's controller was a project of love and its construction took on a meaning far beyond playing with "stupid, little toy cars".

Throughout the process, your family's courage gave us much hope and inspiration...and the total experience was one of the high points of my life. Your selling of the track and controller doesn't take anything away from that.

We're only sorry that we weren't able to come out and visit since that memorable day.
