There are some guys that are just at a higher level than others.
I am lucky to know one of the best.
Jerry Miller.
Perhaps I'm mis-reading this, but, Mike Steube, Terry Schmid and Monty Ohren come to mind. Oh, and Lee Gilbert.

I have had the pleasure to race several of Lee Gilbert's creations over the last 10 years. From Flexi cars to Eurosports to brass and wire ISO chassis. His work always amazes me. He is a true Craftsman.

dennis samson gets my vote
I'll second Dennis Samson--and add Steube--if you want to learn to build as a rookie--Keith and Steube put a cd out with Steube's building tricks!! Soldering 101 as well as many other tips / tricks for building. A must have for a rookie builder!!
I don`t know how many guys here know who Jerry Miller is, but he built the most beautiful and best slot cars I`ve ever seen.
He taught Rande alot of what he knows too.
Jerry Miller is the greatest Slot Car Racer I ever met.
I always admired Monty's work, he inspired me to start building chassis in the late 70's.

How about Bob Ainsworth, he was a great clean builder back in the day. I raced w/ Bob for years in the Tri State during 80's and 90's. Saw some really nice stuff come from him.
Mike,
I have to agree with you on building and Jerry was "1" of the greatest racers also!!
JUST SHUT UP AND RACE!!!!
i don't know any vintage solderers but if your interested in retro chassies I know this guy that attends johns slot car garage in riverview, fla. The guy really doesn't have very much time due to school so he only turns out a chassie or two every couple of weeks but in my opinion he's the best i've seen in a while. a little food for thought he also sell's them for a pretty reasonable price and he's an OWH member! his name is CMF3 on my profile if your interested!

Craig Landry ? He could solder a couple of beer cans together.
Work harder. Millions on welfare depend on you!
