    Agreed as far as Craig.

Dick Pelletier built some incredibly neat and precise chassis back in his hey day too. He had a way of putting only as much solder as was needed only where he wanted it.

Really hard to compile one definitive list, since so much of the subject is in flux.

Groan... I should have seen that one coming. Fortunately, bad puns can be a bonding experience.

Maybe if we're lucky it'll heat up this thread!

Maybe. All the Lovers of List-Making were so quiet, maybe this's the time to, um, rosin up the Beaux.

Okay, that was a terrible stretch. I've run out of puns, and actually I got something I should solder. Cya Guyz.

Although he has gone to the great King track in the sky, Jim "the Saint" Bernard was a very meticulous builder . I met him in the late '80s in Pensacola & we raced there & Atlanta. Jim was a founding member of the early '90s southern USRA, as well as Asst National Tech director Div 1 USRA' 92. He learned his craft in the late '60s & early '70s in the Pensacola & Mobile area. I have 2 or 3 of his chassis left, although there are many out there as one of his 15-a units was in limited production in the early '90s. Jim also designed & built his own Electronic controllers as well as having the ability to wind arms & drive QUITE competitively.

I second the nomination for Bob. As I took a new job in the early 90's which meant far less time for me to build he was the only one I would have do work for me.

Hey Raisin, Long time no see. I heard you're racing again. Come up to flint next weekend and say Hi to some old friends. Maybe we can fix you up with a loaner.

A story about Bob Ainsworth. I was over at his house a couple of times. One time I think I was hoping to buy some Camen magnets of the 640 series from him. He was working on some very short drag style motors for a client. I thought I was a sort of hardcore builder but when I saw him wipe an Ungar tip with his thumb I knew I would never be in his class.

Roger Lail was the best brass scratch chassis builder in North Carolina during the seventies through nineties that I can remember. He was a terror on the tracks as a racer as well.
