    Junior race results...

If somebody could please post the Junior race results (in a new thread here) or PM them to me, I will make sure they are posted.

Wow - just 13 and beating some very tough competition!!! To many of us geezers in the sport - it is always encouraging to see bright young talents getting hooked on our hobby!

Yes! Owl's do need some sleep sometimes!!!!

But there was a turn out and the paper work was lost in the massive pile of printout I was demanding to be able to post here. But here are the results of the Junior event...

    1 - Justin Colvin - 181
    2 - Dylan Place - 145
    3 - Travis Place - 138

Frank Gawronski is actually a really tall 13 year old and I guess he could qualified to run in the Junior race. But father Paul was over loaded preparing the fleet of cars for him and his son for this Nat's. Also 1/24 eurosport was later in that same day.

Frank is also really fast! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I was actually expecting Frank to race and thought it was going to be one of the best races of the day! I think he and Justin were pretty equally matched, at least on the Blue King. It certainly would have been a great race.

I think "Bluey" said it best at some point when he was directing... It was something like, "I think the future is Franky and Justin"... Something like that... Both Paul and Frank were very congradulatory towards Justin. Both are class acts for sure.

They were a little shaky... I think I was more nervous than he was! I didn't think to follow the car... I wanted to catch his reaction. :-)

We get alot of chatter on these boards about the future of our hobby and how it's hard to get kids interested. Well here is proof that kids can and do like this hobby. Frank and Justin are just the tip. Ask Jim from PSRC about young Madison, I believe she is 10 and has been known to put a whoopin on all ages of racers including her dad. Kids enjoy this hobby quite a bit and are ready to compete given the chance. The old guard needs to take the time to encourage and teach them.

I think we are going to see more of Frank and Justin in the years to come and hopefully several more that we don't know yet that will step up to challenge them.

PSCR has a great racing program for kids that started about a year and a half ago. From there, about half a dozen kids have moved up to Nascar, and a few of the other classes, and are doing really well. Zach Cavish, another young racer, does really well in multiple classes. Kids are definately interested in slot cars, the trick is to keep their interest. Jim and Dianne do a great job of making the track a fun place to go. Now, just to clarify Alan, I wouldnt say whoopin on her dad, but rather a small beat down on her dad. Yeah, thats what Im going to keep telling myself. Hope to race with ya soon Alan.

Hey she put a whoopin on me once, but then again so has Frank G. Justin has beat me so often I have bruises named after him.

The young Pile boys are up and comers too.

Don't think I will make races at PSCR this trip.

Fester, you know who builds his cars, at least most of them. Greg at Icehouse Racing builds all the cars he races weekly and just about all of the ones he runs in the NorCal series. The car that Justin TQ'd with and took 3rd in LMP was built by Greg also, with some fine tuning by Frank Sarkela from SCR. Frank also built the 4.5" NASCAR that finished 4th, and the 4" NASCAR that Justin won both the open and juniors classes with. Frank also built his own car that won the 4.5" NASCAR race. I believe Frank's cars took the top 7 spots in the 4" NASCAR class.

Both Greg and Frank build awesome cars.
