    F1 euro info please

    looking to race 1/32 nd F1 at nats this year, just need a little info on gears and something called gear saver. where can we get the crown gears, can we get in 2mm, and 72 or 80 pitch. and any other help would be much appreciated.

    thanks, Kevin

    You mean 32d F1 Euro?

    I think the crown gears are JK but I think Red Fox is making them as well. Some cars are jigged 3/32 vice 2mm. Gears are available for both. Others will answer this better but Lou Pirro taught be about the 64p crowns working better with 72p pinions. Try the 7t 72p 2mm pinion from Camen at the start. The gear saver that I know is tubing/axle spacers that keep the crown gear from moving away from the pinion.

    This is a start for you to chew on and so others can pile on, especially the guys that race the class all the time...

    First, buy this car from Jon:

    http://www.slotcartalk.com/slotcarta...Horky-F-1-Euro

    It comes with a gear saver

    Stay with the green JK gear in whatever axel size you get with the car and ignore all the other options .

    The green JK gear is well known, inexpensive and should be readily available

    Ignore all the other responses.

    Get to a flat track and drive it for a million or so laps - looking to reduce you lap times and become a better driver

    Go to the Nats and have fun

    This file is ideal for making the teeth on the green JK gear a little deeper leading to a better mesh and a longer gear life;

    Bill also makes some very good chokes. His twin tower is a beautiful piece of workmanship...

    What are you using for a motor? What wind?

    Most guys who use the little green JK gears run them with 6th 72 pitch pinions. Sounds weird, runs fine. Most guys use 2mm axles. It's not all that easy to find 2mm internal diameter aluminum or brass tubing for the gear savers, so I'd suggest starting to shop for this early.
