So when you say backwards, are you going up the doughnut or down the doughnut? I have an original American Black and we always raced down the doughnut.

The biggest reason we raced down the doughnut was because of the humps on the main straight. If we raced it the other way the cars would launch off of the humps.

Why not take the humps out of the straight... Or were they intentional??

On the original American Regal Black (which I have) American put the humps in the straight. The purist in me will not allow me to mess with the original design. I have always wanted to keep the track as close to original as possible. Since it is 51 years old and I have had it for at least thirty years, I just don't want to tear it apart. i have the original lap counter and time seller for it as well.
