I saw this on Red Fox Raceway`s Facebook page.

I think these could be the inspiration for a new class in USRA.
These use Group12 motors, but I think Contenders or even FK`s would work well.

We ran cars just like that for several years in Seattle area PNW AMCA. We called it our "C-1" class.

The chassis were Dynamic out of Brazil. We allowed scratch built brass & wire chassis to inspire scratch building... but about 90% ran the over-the-counter Brazilian chassis, which were like the ones in your pic.

My memory is faded on which bodies we ran... but I think we changed a few times over the years - from GTP to LMP to "Vintage" CanAm... if I'm not confusing it.

It was a great class, very fast and competitive... but no comparison at all to anything Retro.

These cars are built to a different set of rules than retro pro.

Brass and wire cars are cool, but these will be way better handling than retro pro.
Wider, lower cg.

Lee had a class( Pro Gp. 10???) that used a spec. brass wire chassis.(PDQ maybe) Ran a contender motor with the lower downforce GTP bodies. Wish I could get my hands on one of those.

I would love to build and race open format anglewinders. I know it's been done but I'd say it's time to do it again.

I admire the workmanship that goes in to many of the brass and wire chassis, but I believe the rules in retro are flawed.

A new class using USRA and ISRA based rules might bring some guys over.

The rules are what the rules are!! No reason to bag on retro---just start a NEW class!! Retro racing has shown the largest growth in 20 years of slot racing--but someone always wants to bag on it!!
Those chassis look nice---but why not just go with flexi chassis if you don't want to build?? Their cheaper and handle even better!!

I love the rules in retro racing. IMO, they are the most stable rules in slot car racing.

I'm a die hard flexi racer but don't race as much because of instability of the rules. Just my opinion.

I simply want to allow scratchbuilt chassis' along with flexys in the group 10 realm. Not because they are better than flexys but just because some of us like to make things. It would be a novel addition to scale racing that just might pull a few more racers back to the track.

You could bar EDM spring steel so it would be nod to Retro in the sense that they are soldered together by the racer. The intention is to compete with stamped steel and follow the basic group 10 format: 3 1/4 wide, front wheels optional, pillowblock type axle holders, pans optional etc.
