I forgot 3 things:

1) All or almost all of the top world ISRA drivers use glued on the axle and statically balanced spurs. They also statically balance their rear wheels.

2) If I ran grp 7 or 27 wing cars (which I don't and I don't know anything at all about), I would most certainly try out the pinion run-out gauge and static balancing of the rear wheels.

3) Roger S and I did an experiment a couple of years ago with a hawk powered 1/32 car at Mid Am on the Monster, in which we tried a new spur, good axle, and new rear wheels straight and then with the entire assembly carefully statically balanced. The balanced car was slightly but perceptibly quicker (0.05-0.1 s per lap), but the car was much quieter and ran very much smoother than the unbalanced one.

Honestly, which races are you talknig about, because it's definitely NOT ISRA .

I'm very sorry. You are correct. I mixed up classes. My statement was in reference to a new IRRA retro class here in the USA. Some people are considering useing these gears in their cars. In that class only, not ISRA, you are limited to 3/32d axles.

ISRA has no restriction for axle size for 32d F1 Eurosport.

The JK gear is available for a 3/32 axle.

Yes, Jon is correct. Back when we ran 3/32" axles in 1/32 F1, we had 3/32" little green JK gears. I presume that these are still available, and that Jim Radford, Frank Sarkela, and the NJ guys can get them for you, maybe Mike Swiss, too. I don't know of the vitulas come in 3/32". I doubt if the czechs blueprint the JK greens in 3/32.

As to the pitches: As above, the vitulas are indeed 72 pitch. The JK greens are supposedly 64 pitch, but as far as I know, everybody uses 6 or 7 tooth 72 pitch pinions on them. This works just fine. I advise not trying this on other crown or spur gears though. :-)

The JK green gears in 2mm are nearly all perfect, for some reason the 3/32 axle ones can be a little wobberly. (is that a word!!!??) The green gears with a 72dp pinion will also allow you to offset the motor (.020) in the same way the vitual is offset. To take out the wobble on the gear, mesh it and heat it with a lighter or the soldering iron as it is rotating. There are some new SK gears coming onto the market, which I havent had a chance to test yet.

I personally do not run a 3/32 axle in my F-1. I was just putting the options out there for the JK gear.
I also run a 7 tooth 72 pitch pinion. At least that's what I think is on it.

I'm sure we can come up with something for you at the 2015 URSA nats regauding a towel. Lol

Thanks, Brian! I forgot all about the hypoid business. Both jk greens and vitulas run fine with the motors flat on the deck, meaning slightly hypoid.

Jon, I look forward to the towel! I thought that you probably ran 2mm axles. Pretty sure almost everyone uses them in 1/32 ES and F1.

So now we have a word from a truly fast guy. I'll shut up.
