I have noticed the same thing

think you need some help with your car setup have had no problems with any of my gear mesh's with these motors have 2 cars and about 5 races each and still the same 72p gears. What I have found is some of them like 1 more tooth on the pinion and some like 1 less. I do put Gold Dust pro brush's in them and champion springs.these motors have 10 race's on them each still running strong. I love to build but for a spec class its the best low cost motor i"ve used so far.

For our Ghetto spec class we run 48 pitch.
    I usually run 10/28 with tires around.730-.740"
I have run 9/25 and 9/26 with success also.
Anything lower than 9/26 seems to run out of speed before the car gets to the bank with tires in this size range.

    I have a good running X25 with 13/38 64 pitch and .750" tires.
    I haven't tried one with 72 pitch.

I agree with McByrd that some motors like different gears and rollout.

    We run on 13.6 volts.
I'm pretty sure you'd have to gear down some on higher voltage like they run other places.

Even with all that, a blue printed one is only .05 better per lap on our King, but they take a licking and keep on ticking. Want a real sealed motor? Go to the Hawk 7s. Just my opinion. It should be all about fun. Builder haters will hate.
    Sound thinking.

I haven't measured them, but the brushes from my latest 4002 motor will NOT fit into my Ultimate Brush Radius Tool

I'm heading out for the evening. Will try to remember to measure the brushes tomorrow

Should be a swipe or two on some fine sandpaper to get them to fit.

Oh I am sure that is probably the fix, but why?

I'm betting that the brushes on the latest set of motors, are a different batch.

I guess that's the beauty of the sloppy hoods.

    It doesn't matter. Lol

    Zip,

I've been pondering the same thing and I agree.

After a race, I have noticed a lot more brush carbon depositing on the underside of the body above the motor than last years batch. So I think they changed the compound. Also, it appears I'm finding more duds this year. Don't know if they are interrelated or not. But I am still finding a few screamers though. I know last years research showed me no improvement on upgrading brushes or springs. Have not tried it this year. I guess I'll have to redo it again sometime.

I'm not complaining - in fact the opposite is the case.

It is great having brushes that do not slop around in their respective hoods

I found a motor with magnets rubbing the arm.
What's the best way to fix this?
    Thanks

    Mike,

I have found snap ring pliers work very well for this situation. If you don't already have a pair, Harbor Freight has a decent cheapo pair for about $4.
