Those deep drill holes help those arms spin up faster. The several I saw, when we had a local raceway, were all faster than normal Proslot bag motors.
I have a grind mark on one pole on the center line. I have older Chinese PS arms that have deep drill holes on all three poles. So this may be an improvement. Not Balance By Buef for sure but better than the Balance by Boof on that old arm.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people who annoy me.
I'll load one up and check it out. Thanks.
Have you seen PS4002FK motors with both marks or just loose arms? I have PS4002 Chinese arms that have both but the ones with the drill holes came as replacement arms. Alpha also has a Hawk 6 replacement arm that fits these motors. It has drill marks and extra epoxy. Keep in mind that a PS4002 Chinese arm and a 4002FK arm are different in winds and wire size. The 4002FK arm is the same as the JK Hawk, Hawk Retro, and Falcon 7. The PS4002 Chinese arm has smaller wire and less winds. The Hawk 6 has the same size wire but with more winds. There are also American replacements available for both motors.
I've done so much with so little for so long it seems like I can do anything with nothing at all.
Such a great motor. Cheap, inexpensive and very fast for the price it cost. IMO, it can't be beat pound for pound.

I have both...drilled and ground balanced.....no noticeable difference in performance.

Only seen PS-FK motors so far...no loose arms and not available for sale at this point. The motors I have...some have drill balancing and some are ground balanced. No difference in performance.
The JK Hawk motor with the black endbell ( now white and a different part number ) is the same 60 turns as the Hawk 7 motor is and ceramic magnets. Hawk 7 motors have poly neo mags.
JK Hawk 6, white endbell, 60 turns and poly neo mags.
PS-4002 60 turns 31 ga wire
PS-FK 65 t of 30 ga wire
Falcon 7, Retro Hawk 65 turns 30 ga wire
The Pro-Slot blank is different than the blank used in the JK motors and Falcon 7 motors.

I agree with you on all but the JK Hawk 6. The wind chart I have shows it to have 72 turns of #30 wire and all my Hawk 6 motors are unbalanced. My guess is that a good motor could be made out of the balanced JK Hawk arm and the JK Hawk 6 set up with NEO magnets but they don't come that way. It would be hard to tell the difference in the winds but the balancing marks would be wrong in a stock Hawk 6 motor.

This motor has now done 5000+ laps, and still going really strong. The non-pinion axle bushing is worn and has visible play, which unless recently oiled starts an awful vibe/squeak sound so that needs replacing, and the braids are showing wear now, particularly the positive side. Other than that it's going really well. Brushes are worn and will require replacing in the next few thousand laps - I'm not sure when they actually should be replaced I am assuming its when the springs lose a large surface contact area?

Different Poly Neo magnets (Not the same Chinese Mfg.) in the PS-FK and the JK motors...
The crown and webbing thickness and shape, and the height, tip distance, and Air Gap Of the magnets effects the cog.
Most guys that really know motors will tell you cog has nothing to do with how a motor runs with voltage applied.
