I use 60/40 from Radio Shack. Silver solder joints are a little more brittle and don't flex alot.
What is the best solder to use for soldering brass rollcages and Nerf bars.

Hello:
Sam Pan said it right, 60/40 from Radio Shack. I have built 100's of chassis' and had virtually 0 failures over the years, that includes Scale, Wing and Retro chassis'
Thanks, Ron
Building sprint cars for your oval? Nerf bars & roll cages don't significantly stiffen up a Sprints Plus chassis, if that's what you're building. But silver solder, both the 4% Stay Brite & Radio Shack's 2% silver bearing solder, is stronger than 60/40. Silver solder joints will only get brittle if you don't use a hot enough iron. For your application, 60/40 should be fine, although I prefer 63/37. It's slightly stronger than 60/40 & it flows better. Radio Shack is a good source for it too, but certainly not your only source.
When soldering brass to brass use either a can of paste flux (like a plumber uses) or some rosin flux. When soldering brass to steel or steel to steel you need an acid flux such as Lucky Bob's, Stay Clean, or Oatey's. You can also use acid flux on brass to brass joints too, but it's overkill.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people who annoy me.

Find a local welding supply house and see what they have on the shelf. Bought some flux and solder MANY years ago to add pin tubing to my 'cucaracha.... Also a good source for stainless steel flux.
