Have you tried Micro-Mark?
Looking for a inexpensive lane striper for a friend. Of course it will only be used once so it would be great to borrow (rent?)one. I know about the Beugler ones and a kit from them i$ expen$ive. Any thoughts? Thanks..

Thanks Paul.
After posting, I checked MM only to find that they no longer stock the item.
I still have mine in my slot car box

That looks perfect Paul... thanks...
Ben,
I have used that one a few times on some of the tracks at Port Jeff, and got really great results considering the price compared to the Beugler.
Experiment with paint viscosity, it can make a profound difference in the way it performs.
I looked extensively around the house for mine. Had I found it, I would have sent it your way since my track striping days are over.

The reviews on that particular striper or pretty bad. I've never used it but those writing reviews are not impressed.

I see only one bad review, and one fairly good review... so hard to tell if the bad review was an isolated incident, or if the reviewer was just a moron.
I have known of numerous people using this same paint striper (Zippity and Weedracer among them, as well as Slapshot), who have had very good results for striping slot car tracks using this striper. It has gone under a different brand name in the past, I think it was "Master Empee" - or something like that... but was the same item).
I believe this is the type that Gary Gerding uses as well???
It is definitely not the same quality as the Beugler... (as the one reviewer pointed out), but also a LOT cheaper.
Someone correct me if I am wrong... but I believe that the only difference between the single line and double line, is simply which wheels you put on it. It comes with 6 wheels and four spacers for making different widths of single or double lines.
The one in my link above has 3 remaining in stock as of now.

I didn't check any reviews now and back then there were none.
As I mentioned, if the paint viscosity is wrong, it can be terrible. My first attempt, I thinned too much and it dribbled past the wheel all over the track, and ran in the bank.
Too thick and it skipped. Striping with a brush is exactly the same. If the paint consistency is correct, it flowed the right amount of paint and allowed you to work at a comfortable pace. Of course that comfort disappears when you crawl all over the place for 12 hours.
The bottles were glass and the quality was fine for this application. I wouldn't stripe a car with it, but nobody would do that with the Beugler either, so I could never see that price justified.
I don't remember why, but I didn't care for the guide wire, so I made another one out of piano wire that was configured differently.

Great device, worked fine for me and my guys I have always used the glass bottles but was told the "glue" bottles were better because you could control the flow by slightly squeezing the bottles. Did at least 5 tracks that I can remember.
RIGHT> Change the glass bottle out and use old plastic (tire) glue bottles. I use a different bottle for each lane color so I never need to fully clean them and dry them between lane colors. A gentle squeeze controls the paint flow so that you NEVER rely on the bubble of air or make a mess on the track. You can also make different wire guides if you need to use two at once like Gary Gerding does to stripe both sides of the slot in one pass. A use an old guide flag for a smoother holder for the wire as well.

Just tried to purchase this and it's not available. Is that a temporary stocking issue or is it gone forever? Is there a replacement or what are guys using now?
