What gearing should I be using?

Surprise, surprise!! This old brass wing car chassis actually worked on our flat track. I placed a cheap Chinese ESC into it, along with a Flashhobby Arthur 1207 7000KV brushless motor.

Unfortunately, the motor got extremely hot, the car stopped on the track, and copious Indian smoke signals filled the room.

    The motor was geared 12:37.

What gearing should I have used to ensure that the motor ran cooler?

Ron, your chassis is a Parma Patriot. I'm not well-versed on brushless slot racing.
I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people who annoy me.

    Thanks Bill.

According to Ron Hershman, the chassis is of 1991-3 vintage

I have replaced the burnt out Arthur 1207 motor with a 1204 Arthur 5200KV and geared it at 7:37.

Watch this space. Hopefully I will get to test the car tomorrow and will report back

    Forget it!!

My days of trying to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear are over

Once again I smoked a motor - ever so gently. Hopefully the motor is still OK.
